Laurie Schultz, CEO of Galvanize, Wins BC CEO Award

Vancouver, BC, November 14, 2019 – Laurie Schultz, CEO of Galvanize, the global leader in SaaS governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) software, has been selected as a winner of the BC CEO Award in the Mid-Market Company category by Business in Vancouver (BIV) magazine. The award is an annual event in which BIV honours British Columbia's most outstanding CEOs in private, public sector, and charitable organizations.

“Eight years ago we began transforming every aspect of our business—including our culture, our HighBond software platform, and our brand—into the global leader, built for scale, that we are today,” said Schultz. “To receive this recognition of our growth and achievements since then is incredibly rewarding. We’re especially proud to be growing our global presence, financial results, and valuation, while keeping our roots in British Columbia.”

Schultz was chosen based on her innovative leadership, financial performance, people development, social responsibility, and sustainability. Her vision and culture-first execution have driven Galvanize to broad leadership in GRC—a $40 billion market and the third core enterprise software category alongside ERP and CRM.

Key to her leadership is Schultz’ unique one-page strategic plan, a single document she uses to strategically referee all corporate expenditure of energy and resources. Developed and evolved with deep interaction at all levels of the business, the one-page strategic plan is a constant reminder of the company’s vision, mission, and what makes Galvanize unique. An unchanging element of the plan is Schultz’ focus on mobilizing talent—a cultural obsession with harnessing diversity and innovation. Her belief that employee engagement is the first prerequisite to sustained financial success is exemplified through Galvanize’s “Change Agent” program, in which game-changing employees are rewarded with CEO mentorship, personal development funds, and quarterly strategic workshops each year.

Schultz was profiled in the October 1 issue of Business in Vancouver and honoured at a gala awards dinner on November 13, 2019.
