Lena Eisenstein

Tracey Brady, Managing Director of Company Matters at Link Group, is being recognized by Diligent’s Modern Governance 100 program. The Modern Governance 100 is a community of general counsels, corporate secretaries and other governance professionals who have demonstrated resilience, dedication and empathy in the face of a complex and ever-changing world.

Tracey Brady has seen first-hand how good governance practices lay the foundation for long-term success. Long a vocal advocate of the benefits of digital governance, Brady finds that modern governance practices offer her – and her company – significant competitive and operational advantages.

Modern governance plays an integral role when it comes to helping any business keep pace with the times: “Modern governance is exactly what we need to recognize,” she notes. “We need to adapt to changing environments and support businesses as they strive to evolve.”

As the architect of the market-leading governance infrastructure her company has in place, Brady knows just how much of an impact it can have. With a large team spread across a number of different locations, she uses Diligent Entities to implement a consistent approach to how they deal with their many clients and their differing demands and needs.

Her utilization of digital governance at Link Group has enabled her and her team to get a full picture of everything they need from within the confines of one easy-to-manage, virtual platform. Ultimately, governance technology makes life easier for her and her clients. “It’s about ease,” says Brady. “We’ve created efficiencies.” From reporting to filing, Diligent Entities provides her with the organisational tools she needs to maintain the gold standard service she and her company have become known for.

How Brady Uses Diligent

  • Corporate entity management: a single source of truth that’s integrated across departments
  • Automated reports and flexible subsidiary reporting
  • Data integrity: verification that entity data is reviewed and updated appropriately

Brady is keen to share her passion for best practices in corporate governance with her industry peers. As Link Group’s CEO of Corporate Markets Susan Ring notes, “[Tracey] has been persistent in driving the agenda. She has, for example, initiated a programme called ‘Ahead’ which is a forum for other governance professionals from the world of company secretarial, general counsel, investor relations and various other roles. This programme has now been in place for three years and has gathered significant support and momentum through the various research reports, networking and launch events such that it now has a followership of well over 1,000 attendees.”

Finally, Brady notes, good governance is about providing support on all fronts. That support has been the cornerstone of Brady’s relationship with Diligent too. “We know that we can pick up the phone [to Diligent] at any time. If something out of the blue was to come up, we know that we’ve always got support there,” she says. “Whether it’s for us in the UK or whether it’s for our parent company in Australia, it doesn’t matter what end of the day it is – there’s always somebody there who’ll pick up the phone.”

About the Nominee

Brady began her career in corporate governance 21 years ago and, over the years, has mainly worked in UK PLC boardrooms. She became managing director of the Company Matters business at Link Group 7 years ago, and in that time has won awards including ICSA Service Provider of the Year and was named as one of the Governance Hot 100.

Within the industry, she has been a regular speaker at conferences and events as well as a member of many industry groups, including the All Party Parliamentary Corporate Governance Group. A strong advocate in the diversity space both in board rooms and throughout organizations, she is proud of the research they undertake in small cap/AIM listed companies.
