Why leading teams rely on Diligent Market Intelligence for proxy voting intelligence

Proxy voting data is only as useful as the confidence users can place in it. For boards, advisors and stewardship teams, that means knowing which proposal a record relates to, who directed the vote and how to interpret split outcomes.

Verified data at proposal level

Diligent Market Intelligence (DMI) checks, verifies and matches 100% of imported voting data to individual companies, proposals and proxy ballots—not simply broad categories. Where filings contain errors in company identifiers or meeting dates, our research process works to match the correct underlying record before release. Advisors can use the result confidently for client analysis, benchmarking and voting recommendations. Our data feeds also support CUSIP and ISIN identifiers.

See who is voting and why

Fund-level voting instructions show who is voting the shares and the point of view behind the result. This matters as major asset managers evolve their stewardship structures. BlackRock’s separate stewardship entities and Vanguard’s distinct management entities show why attribution cannot be treated as a simple filing exercise. Different teams, mandates or policies may influence shares within one fund. DMI preserves that detail without overstating what a disclosure proves.

A clearer way to interpret split voting

Split-vote disclosures have become more common, creating noise when users compare institutions. Since last proxy season, DMI’s Advanced Voting Tool and Investor Comparator have introduced four configurable views: All Voting Records, N-PX Voting, N-PX Voting with a 90% threshold, and Non-N-PX Voting (VDS & Other).

The threshold view filters out minority split votes when at least 90% of shares voted in the same direction, helping users identify an investor’s predominant position while retaining access to every underlying vote. Advisors can apply a consistent methodology across investors, produce cleaner comparisons and spend less time rebuilding calculations in spreadsheets.

More than N-PX

N-PX remains a major source, but it is not the only one. DMI also processes 8-K, 10-K, 13-F, 485BPOS and ADV filings, alongside voluntary disclosures and information published by investors and companies. Coverage is global, and new disclosures are added continuously—even while the N-PX upload is underway.

That broader coverage helps advisors build a more complete view of voting behavior, with access to voting rationales, fund profiles, proposal detail and other context that may not appear in a single filing.

Built for advisor workflows

DMI’s latest enhancements shorten the path from data to advice. CUSIP and ISIN identifiers help advisors map DMI records to internal or external datasets and connect voting information with related governance and market intelligence. The platform also supports advanced searches, investor comparisons and transparent drill-down into underlying records.

As in the prior season, DMI is targeting mid-September for the bulk release of N-PX data on the platform. This will be a complete set of data, while additional voting disclosures will continue to be added as they become available. For advisors, that means a dependable foundation for faster, more consistent and more defensible proxy voting analysis.
